Ruby

Ruby is a rare breed of vampire – a Blood Psi. This means that in addition to her vampire abilities she has a host of psychic powers, including PK (psycho-kinesis), ESP and psychic healing. She is also able to see scenes from someone’s past simply by tasting their blood. Finding it difficult to adjust to her new “life” as a vampire, Ruby has allowed her psychic gifts to wane while she gets on with the job of having a good time all the time.

Rebecca Salva

Mysterious, beautiful and utterly lethal, Rebecca has a grudge against London’s vampire community and the means to do something about it. In her past, she has a link to Ruby – but what is it?

Tebbit

A big, nasty bastard, Tebbit is proof positive that not all of London's vampires are as "mortal-friendly" as Ruby. Tebbit is a vampire-separatist and believes his blood-sucker brethren should have as little to do with humans – or “breathers”, as he calls them – as possible. He reserves his most withering contempt for The Vatican, who he believes sent a vampire hunter to London in the early 90s. The hunter killed nine vamps before being taken down.

Gaz

He’s Ruby’s best friend in London's vampire community and an incurable show-off. Gaz views his vampire gifts (fast healing, cool teeth) as a way for him to impress the hell out of people, especially girls. The happy-go-lucky bloodsucker even has a soft spot for Tebbit, who he feels is simply “misunderstood”. Poor doomed Gaz.

Heindrick

The vampire child Heindrick is also a Blood Psi, boasting abilities easily the equal of Ruby’s. A genuine enigma, no one in the vamp community knows where he comes from or why he doesn’t speak. He gives Ruby the creeps.

The Community

London has a small but diverse community of vampires. Those to whom Ruby is closest include politician Norris Ross (he’s the government’s Secretary of State for Education); East End gangsters Bennett and Boothby Blood; 500-year-old transsexual Queen Nocturna, and Tommy Rotter and Petunia Gauge, singer and lead guitarist with Sherry Enema, the capital’s hottest vampire band.
