Jacob Marley
Because of his extraordinary bravery and resilience, Marley became an almost legendary figure in British intelligence circles in the ’70s and ’80s. He began his career with MI6 but controversially transferred to MI5 following the birth of his daughter, Isobel. He quit Five in 1993 at the age of 38 to settle down with his young family. However, Marley found it impossible to adapt to life away from the service and his marriage broke down as a consequence. When Isobel became a victim of the July 7th suicide attacks on London in 2005, Marley called in a lot of favors and rejoined Five. Now, heartbroken and lost, he has returned to the only place he ever truly felt at home.

Jerome Quinn
An MI5 agent sent undercover to investigate Britain’s neo-Nazi scene posing as the head of a “White Power” record label. Somewhere along the line Quinn’s sympathies shifted and he became a fully paid-up member of the extreme right. Now having established his own terrorist group, Odin’s Sword, Quinn has launched a campaign of terror against Britain’s Muslim community. He’s a very driven, dangerous man who’s more than a match for Marley in every department.

Maggie Firestone
Currently working with MI5 on a six-month liaison assignment from America’s Homeland Security Taskforce, Maggie partners Marley as he attempts to bring down Odin’s Sword. Marley reckons Maggie is as “tough as old boots” with good reason – she survived kidnap and torture by an Al Qaeda cell only a few months into her career with the United States intelligence service.

Sir Brian Huntingdon
The deputy director general of MI5 and Marley’s oldest friend and confidant in the intelligence service. He is thoroughly exasperated when Marley goes above his head to force a return to active service, mostly out of genuine concern for his troubled comrade. Huntingdon has enjoyed a glittering career in British intelligence and is widely expected to become Five’s next Director General.
